Our Glossary provides brief definitions for specific J & L Designers terms that are highlighted throughout our website. We trust you'll find this information helpful in better understanding our logo design packages and procedures. If you still have questions, please feel free to contact us.


Business Day
Refers to any full day for conducting business, from 8am until 5pm eastern time. Excludes weekends and public holidays.

Customer Choice Project (CCP)
Any graphic design project requested by the customer that is comparable in its complexity to one 8.5 x 11 double sided brochure design or one 5 page website. Customer's Choice Designs must first be approved by J & L Designers before being developed.

Editable Source File
The original logo design file developed by your graphic designer from which all other file formats of your logo are created. The Editable Source File is typically an Adobe Illustrator EPS file, and is intended for use by your commercial printer.

Final Artwork
All completed designs included with your logo design package and approved by you, the customer.

Illustrative
Refers to logos that depict moderately detailed, recognizable content, as opposed to simple, customized text and shapes only.

Initial Payment
The predetermined down payment that is required to begin work on any logo design package.

J & L Storage
Long term storage by J & L Designers of your logo design package materials, i.e. your logo, business card designs, stationery designs, etc., in case you need to have these items sent to you again or modified in the future.

Letterhead + Envelope (L + E)
Refers to one custom letterhead design and one matching envelope design.

LogoApproval
This is the point at which you express complete satisfaction with your new logo. Additional artwork associated with your logo design package (stationery design, business card design, etc.) is developed following LogoApproval. Moreover, your Remaining Balance is not required until after LogoApproval.

LogoApproval Guarantee
The guarantee made by J & L Designers to you, the customer, which states that you do not have to pay the full cost of your logo design package until you express complete satisfaction with a logo that we develop for you. Moreover, in the rare case that WE determine we're unable to develop a logo that you are completely satisfied with, we'll reimburse you for your Initial Payment, under this guarantee.

Modification
A customer-specified list of minor changes to be made to a design, for example, changing the color, typeface, and text size of a logo—these changes, if requested together, would be considered one modification.

Remaining Balance
The amount owed on your logo design package after the Initial Payment is made. Your Remaining Balance is not required until after LogoApproval.

Rushed Payment
Any mailed Initial Payment that is received by J & L Designers within two business days of its online order being submitted. For example, if you order your logo design package on Tuesday, your Initial Payment must be received by Thursday of the same week to be considered rushed, regardless of your shipping method.

Turnaround Time
The period of time between our receipt of your order/payment for your logo design package, and our submission of new custom logos to you for viewing.
